Dearest Mama,
There was a slight earthquake late last night. At first, it started to sway a little and I thought it was probably a big truck trying to make its way through tiny streets. But then it kept on swaying and when I looked out the window, guess what? No truck in sight.
The good thing is it didn't get any stronger than that. A few of us got startled, but nothing broke and no one got hurt. The sad thing is we had an earthquake, the only real downfall of living in sunny California. But then again this unpredictable weather can bring with it a lot of the good and well, the not-so-good.
Rain, wind, hot, cold, dry, moody.
Floods, freezes, accidents, allergies, mood swings.
Flowers, breezes, relief, joy, rejuvenation...
You may wonder, "Why is she mentioning this to me now?"
Now that you no longer have to worry about the world acting out and leaving us roaming around waiting for it to calm down again. Now that you are at peace and freely floating about. Now that you don't have to burden yourself with silly things like little earthquakes and weather changes?
Well, I simply figured you were just trying to mess with our minds to let us know, "Hey, I'm still here!"
I got your message, Ma. Loud and clear.
Love you always,
Myrnelle

Happy Belated Mother's Day
We just wanted to take the time to say hi and we miss you!
We celebrated Mother's Day late this year, having dinner at about 7:00pm at a little Japanese/Chinese restaurant called Wokano. We had a booth underneath a tiki-hut with lit candles and music in the background. You would of loved it!
It was nice to try something new and to celebrate Ate's (Michelle Ayau) very first mommy day. Everyone was in good spirits munching on terriyaki, udon noodles, garlic chicken and of course a boat full of sushi!
Towards the end of dinner with bowls of brown rice still 1/2 full, Boyz II Men's A Song for Mama came on. Some of us got a little teary-eyed, others worked on eating more rice because we know how you don't like us to waste food! But of course mom (Maria Dizon) said it best, "Our Mama decided to join us after all."
We love you always,
The Dizon and Ayau Family
Lyrics:
You taught me everything
And everything you've given me
I always keep it inside
You're the driving force in my life
There isn't anything
Or anyone that I can be
And it just wouldn't feel right
If I didn't have you by my side
You were there for me to love and care for me
When skies were grey
Whenever I was down
You were always there to comfort me
And no one else can be what you have been to me
You will always be you always will be the girl
In my life for all times
Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul
Yes it is
You're always down for me
Have always been around for me even when I was bad
You showed me right from my wrong
Yes you did
And you took up for me
When everyone was downin' me
You always did understand
You gave me strength to go on
There was so many times
Looking back when I was so afraid
And then you come to me
And say to me I can face anything
And no one else can do
What you have done for me
You'll always be
You will always be the girl in my life
Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul
Yes it is
Never gonna go a day without you
Fills me up just thinking of you
I'll never go a day without my mama
Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you're the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul
Yes it is
Yes you are
